The steep sides of Glencar come down from the mountain tops and the lake and on this cloudy day the clouds cleared so that this house could catch the last ray of the Autumn sun. This is mentioned in Yeat's poem The Stolen Child. 'The wardering water gushes From the the hills above Glencar' Glencar is nearly alway dramatic it can be covered by mysterious mists or have stunning sunsets or after heavy rain waterfalls appear and cascade from cliffs. It is no surprise that it inspired Yeats and continues to inspire artists.
