St John’s Point West Southwest Force 8
There are place along the wild Atlantic coast where you get the feeling that you are on the edge of the large and deep ocean. St John’s Point, which is opposite the entrance to Killybegs port in Co Donegal, is one such place. The long spit of land, which stretches from Dunkineely and ends at the lighthouse at St John’s Point, protects the harbour at Killybegs. When steaming in a boat past St John’s Point and out beyond the protection of Slieve League cliffs, you very quickly realize that you are in a very big ocean.
